ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE
It is most important that parents and caregivers understand the importance of structure and consistency. All of our teachers work very hard to create a secure, happy, stable environment for our children. We ask that parents respect drop off and pick up times.
All children are asked to arrive to school by 9:00AM to participate in morning meeting/circle time. Please be considerate of how late arrivals can be disruptive to the whole group and that you can help support us in smooth management of the day by being on time. If your child will not be attending school, please call by 9:00AM or send us a message on the Brightwheel App, to inform us of your child’s absence. Children will not be admitted after 9:30AM.
For children who are just starting in school setting for the first time, parents may feel compelled to stay with their child in the classroom a bit longer at drop off until the child feels settled. After the acclimation phase (a few weeks) of starting school, we ask parents to limit their time in the classroom at drop off to 5 minutes. Many times prolonging departure exacerbates emotions or extends the length of time it will take a student to get ready to start the school day.
Standard schedule children are to be picked up from their primary classrooms no later than 4:00PM. Please allow a few minutes before your scheduled pick up time to collect their belongings and have any necessary discussions with the teacher in order to exit on time. Late fees will apply beginning at 4:01PM.
Extended care children will begin “after school” at 4:00PM. Parents and caregivers should plan on first collecting personal items in their child’s classroom and then collect their child(ren) no later than 6:00PM.
In addition, please notify Creative Academy in advance if an unauthorized person will be picking up your child. Written permission must be received before we will release a child to anyone who is not authorized on the registration form. Photo identification will be required for any unauthorized person to pick up. If written consent and/or proper identification are not received, the child will not be released.
Please refrain from distracting your child’s teacher with an impromptu doorway conference. We respect our children greatly and do not want to discuss any concerns in front of them. All of our teachers are more than happy to set up private appointments with parents. It is important that we keep the lines of communication open.
Creative Academy has an open door policy where parents may visit and check in on their child; they can even participate in certain aspects of the school day in the classroom. However, it is expected that parents give notice and coordinate with teachers for these special activities/extended visits in the room to avoid unplanned disruptions.
Beginning in our 3’s classroom, children will have educational field trips scheduled during Spring and Summer seasons, which are meant to enhance and compliment thematic aspects of the Creative Academy Curriculum. Children will be transported by either an approved Department of Transportation school bus or public transportation, depending on the trip location/destination. As trips are scheduled, your child’s teacher will reach out to the classroom families to get volunteers to be parent chaperones to help us adhere to safety regulations.
Children (ages one & up) of Creative Academy may opt-in our school lunch program, Red Rabbit, for an additional weekly fee. Red Rabbit meals are created exclusively for children and provide us with nutritious, made-from-scratch meals every day. Click on the link to view this week’s RED RABBIT LUNCH MENU.
Food that is provided by parents/caregivers need to follow DOH regulations; food must be “ready to eat”, which means it does not require peeling, cutting, or cooking. This also includes breast milk provided in individual serving pouches, infant formula and cow’s milk already in individual serving bottles. Please only bring the amount of food that should be consumed for each day. Parents/caregivers are not permitted to leave food in the classroom or refrigerators for the week. ALL FOOD MUST BE LABELED WITH THE CHILD’S FULL NAME AS WELL AS THE DATE THAT THE ITEM IS BROUGHT IN.
For children in our 2’s and 3’s program, pacifiers, bottles and sippy cups from home will not be utilized during the school day. We believe the use of these items may interfere with any speech and language development in the classroom if a child is dependent on such items.
Only water and white milk will be served throughout the day for all age groups.
For health, safety and allergy reasons, we are a nut-free school.
- Peanuts, tree nuts, or any food or snack item prepared in a factory that processes nuts, this also includes almond milk. Please understand that nut allergies can be deadly. Be diligent in reading labels when packing snacks and lunches.
As a protective measure for your child, children with a temperature of 100 degrees or above are not permitted in the school and they cannot return until they have been fever free for 24 hours, without medication. We want the school to be a healthy environment for all. Please contact the school if your child will be absent due to any contagious illnesses (chicken pox, pink eye, norovirus etc.) so we can discreetly inform the other parents and staff of any additional health precautions that must be undertaken (of course without mention of child’s name). For any transmitted illnesses, children need to be symptom free for 24 hours before returning. Check with the Directors for details.
